Melissa is a native of the metro Atlanta area and has worked in the veterinary field since 1999. She spent 10 years working in emergency and critical care. During that time, she studied Biology and Chemistry at Georgia State University, and received her RVT license in 2007. In her many years in the field, she has gained knowledge and experience with not just cats and dogs, but also with exotics, wildlife, and farm animals. She has since retired from wildlife rehabilitation after years of nursing many orphaned and injured wild creatures back to health. She worked at PHAH in the summer of 2011 and rejoined the hospital in 2016. Being a veterinary technician is not just a job for her, it is a career and a passion, and Melissa hopes to provide your pet with the best care possible. In her limited spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, crocheting, watching documentaries, and being outdoors.
Melissa shares her home with her son, 2 dogs (Fletcher and Éva), 4 cats (Dillon Jones, Mr. Whiskers, Chopper Ferguson, and Ninja Jack), Alexandra the bunny, Sebastian the African Grey, and Sonic the parakeet.
