Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT)
Jasmine Henry, RVT
Jasmine grew up in a military family, so she is not “from” anywhere– but she is looking to make Atlanta her home! She started out majoring in psychology at Auburn University but learned she could turn her love for animals into a career, and so she moved to Florida and switched her major to veterinary technology. Jasmine graduated with her Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology in May 2019 from Pensacola State College and passed the national boards to become a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in December 2019.
In her free time, Jasmine enjoys eating breakfast food, catching up on her favorite shows, traveling to other countries with friends, and cuddling with her dog, Bella.
Brittany Johnstone, RVT
Brittany grew up in Alpharetta,GA and attended the University of West Georgia, where she graduated with a degree in Biology. She began her career as a zookeeper, but soon realized her passion for the veterinary field. She went back to school in 2015 to get her license as a veterinary technician. Brittany enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Kyle, and her daughter, Claire, or catching up with friends.
Brittany is also a mom to her furry children, who include Choo Choo the dog, and two cats, Steve and Charlotte.
Melissa Lawrence, RVT
Melissa is a native of the metro Atlanta area and has worked in the veterinary field since 1999. She spent 12 years working in emergency and critical care. During that time, she studied Biology and Chemistry at Georgia State University. She received her RVT license in 2007. In her many years in the field, she has gained knowledge and experience with not just cats and dogs, but also with exotics, wildlife, and farm animals. She has since retired from wildlife rehabilitation after years of nursing many orphaned and injured wild creatures back to health. She worked at PHAH in the summer of 2011 and rejoined the hospital in 2016. In her limited spare time, she enjoys binging television shows and taking naps. The only way you will find her outdoors is if a pool is involved.
Melissa shares her home with her son, 3 dogs (Fletcher, Preston, and Edward), 4 cats (Chopper Ferguson, Jasper, Sebastian, and Ninja Jack) and Sebastian the African Grey.
Paige Simpson, RVT
Paige’s love of animals led her to become a veterinary technician. Originally from Huntsville, Alabama, she graduated from Mississippi State University with a B.S. in Veterinary Medical Technology. Paige is currently following her passion here in Atlanta and has been at PHAH since June of 2012. In her free time she enjoys going out to the lake, sports, hiking, and cooking.
Her furry children are her dogs Koda and Toby, and her cats Calvin and Tito.
Kim Thompson, RVT
Kim was born in Toronto, Ontario, but grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida. Kim spent her adolescent years in West Palm Beach, where she graduated from Wellington High School. After graduating, she went on to Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in Denver, Colorado, where she earned her A.A.S. degree in Veterinary Medical Technology. Kim returned to Florida and worked in both day practices and an emergency clinic, before moving to Atlanta to be closer to her family, and further her career in veterinary medicine. Kim joined the Peachtree Hills family in January, 2014.
In her spare time, Kim enjoys nature walks along the Chattahoochee with her roommate’s dog, Cooper.
Chelsea Tynan, RVT
Chelsea has been an Atlanta local most of her life. After graduating from Kennesaw State University in 2013 with a B.S. in Psychology, she wanted to fuse her passion for animal care and human understanding. Chelsea joined Peachtree Hills in 2015 as part of the reception team. Over time, she transitioned to the role of Veterinary Assistant and worked on completing her degree in veterinary technology. In November 2020, she graduated from Penn Foster with an A.S. of Veterinary Technology and passed her boards to receive her license as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). She finds an enormous amount of fulfillment and passion in her career and is excited for what lies ahead! In her spare time, you can find her hanging in a hammock by the Chattahoochee or exploring the local art festivals.
Chelsea has always fancied herself a “crazy cat lady” obsessed with her three mischievous cats, Biju, Bruce, and Luna.
Maggie was born and raised in Atlanta. She received an Associate of Arts in Business Management from Georgia State University and is now starting RVT school at Penn Foster to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Maggie spends most of her free time trying new restaurants, hiking, fishing, and tubing. Maggie’s happy place is anywhere with the sun and a body of water. Fun Fact: Maggie has family in Puerto Rico, so she travels down there a few times a year.
Maggie has two adorable ferrets, Stewie and Stella.
Aliya was born and raised in Atlanta. Ever since she was little, Aliya wanted to pursue a career in which she could help and take care of animals but ended up trying different careers. Aliya went from computer animation to graphic design, but none of those truly made her happy. After a lot of thought, she changed career paths and obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology and physical science at Gordon State College. Choosing to work with animals was the best choice she’s ever made, and she couldn’t be happier.
Taylor recently relocated to Georgia after graduating from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. Outside of work she enjoys cooking, hiking, and traveling with her boyfriend.
Taylor is currently looking to adopt a furry friend!
Taylor was raised in West Tennessee, then lived in Nashville for 11 years before moving to Atlanta in 2020 with her husband. She has always worked in healthcare and has had a passion for animals her whole life. It took long enough, but after many years she finally made the switch to combine the two when she started working here at PHAH in 2020! Outside of work, Taylor enjoys good food, hiking, and trying new breweries with her husband.
She has three handsome kitties whom she spoils on the daily… a 7-year-old back cat named Binx (yes, from “Hocus Pocus”), a 12-year-old, long-haired gray tabby named Squeaky, and a 4-year-old orange and white Maine Coon mix.
Katie is a Florida native who started off working in human medicine. After relocating to Georgia, she decided to follow her passion for animals and started her career in veterinary medicine here at Peachtree Hills Animal Hospital.
Katie is the proud mom of one long-haired sassy chihuahua named Bella and an adventurous Cairn Terrier named Barkley. In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, kayaking, and exploring Atlanta with her fur babies.
Sam was born in Virginia but moved around a bit since his family was military. He eventually settled in Georgia and graduated from Columbus State University with a B.A. in theatre and a minor in Spanish.
Always having a love for animals, Sam frequently volunteered at multiple animal clinics in Augusta, GA where he spent most of his childhood. In his free time he enjoys playing guitar, DJ’ing and being outdoors.
Sam is a cat dad to two wonderful kitties who reflect both sides of his personality. Hero, the calmer, more reserved kitty and Meredith the rambunctious, but very affectionate Bobtail (who also rules the house).
Megan was born in San Antonio, Texas. She went to college at Texas A&M University and graduated in 2020 with her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. She moved to Georgia and decided to further her education, so she applied and has been accepted into the Institute of Medical Ultrasound here in Atlanta.
She wants to use her Sonography license in veterinary medicine when she is done! In her free time, she loves to explore trails, new cities, and go to concerts.
Megan has an 8-year old Morkie named Ruby!
Darius was born and raised in South Georgia. He moved to the Atlanta area at the age of 22 and it has been a great experience. He has been working in the animal field for over three years. Working in the field showed him how much he loves dogs which gave him more of a reason to get his own.
Darius currently has one dog, Zoe, who is an excellent partner to have by his side.
Born in Orlando, Florida, Ansley moved back and forth to various parts of Georgia and Florida. She has always had a love for all kinds of animals from volunteering with a rescue group when she was 12 to working at a snake breeding facility during college. Ansley graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Cellular Biology and aspires to attend veterinary school in the future. In her spare time, Ansley enjoys reading, crafting, and running with her dogs. Ansley joined the Peachtree Hills family in February, 2016.
Ansley has four dogs: Crash the beagle/cattle dog, Dino the vizsla, Storm the husky, and Woody the lab/coon hound mix. She is also mother to a macaw named Spike and a tarantula name Rosie.
Breia has a deep love for animals. Prior to joining our PHAH family she was a therapeutic riding instructor. She graduated from Kings Way Christian school and studied sociology at Kennesaw State University. Breia’s long-term goal is to become a registered veterinary nurse. Outside of work Breia enjoys riding horses, cycling, crafting, spending time with her boyfriend and watching the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Breia has a two-year-old cat named Big Bron. He is a King!
Michela’s passion for animals started at a very young age and she always knew she was going to be in the field helping them when she got older. A Louisiana native who now resides in Mississippi, Michela graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor’s in Veterinary Medical Technology. She’s been in the field for over 10 years and has recently joined the PHAH family in March of 2022 as our TeleHealth Veterinary Nurse. In her spare time, she enjoys painting and spending time with her family and friends.
Michela’s furry/feathery children include her basset hound Rebel, her dachshund mix named Sadie, and cockatiel named Pasqual.
Rachel moved here from Florida after graduating from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance Theatre and work experience for Walt Disney World. She started working at PHAH as a receptionist and crossed-trained as a veterinary assistant. Outside of work, Rachel loves gardening, crafting with friends, and cooking/baking at home with her boyfriend.
Rachel has two dogs, Paige and Blondie, who are the cutest siblings; and a lovable cat named Bella.
Victoria is a Georgia native. She has been in the veterinary field as a receptionist for over ten years. In her free time she enjoys spending time and making memories with her high school sweetheart, whom she married, Andriciar.
Victoria is a proud dog mom to the sweetest Chihuahua she has ever met, Princess!
Eunice was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Georgia. She was exposed to animal care here through the Atlanta Zoo, Atlanta Aquarium and animal rescue shelters. She began to take interest in all creatures and knew at a young age that she wanted to have a career helping animals. After graduating from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, she was able to take her first step into the veterinary field here at PHAH. She is excited to learn more here and eventually become a Registered Veterinary Technician.
In her free time, Eunice enjoys watching anime, going to the gym, and listening to true crime podcasts.
Eunice has a Maltipoo mix named Ahmi, and a rescue cat named Ashe.
Nikkii was born and raised in Ohio. After spending 13 years in the human medical field, she and her husband decided to re-locate to Georgia for a change. She has always had a love for animals, which led her to us! In her free time she enjoys reading, playing board games and being outdoors.
A sweet six-year-old rescue puppy named Izzy, or as they affectionally call her, “Miss”.
Shaun has worked at Peachtree Hills Animal Hospital since 2012 but took a break to work on his other passion, motorcycles. He also has a degree in motorcycle management. He recently re-joined the team in February 2018 and was welcomed back with open arms! He enjoys being a part of the PHAH family and meeting everyone’s fur family when they visit.
Shaun is originally from Louisiana, then moved to Atlanta in 2002. In 2016, he married his wife and favorite chef, Francina. They live in Kirkwood with their house full of animals. In his free time, Shaun enjoys eating tacos, hanging out in the pool, kickboxing, riding his motorcycle, napping, and spending time with friends and family.
Shaun is a lover of all animals and has a house full – several cats, a dog, a bunny, backyard chickens and his best friend, a conure named Sprite (pictured).
Born in Texas and raised in Suwanee, Georgia, Lindsey recently graduated from Georgia Southern University. Growing up, she always loved animals and at one point, even wanted to be a marine biologist. Throughout college, she worked closely with the Statesboro Humane Society and has fostered many kittens. Outside of work, Lindsey enjoys playing video games, screenwriting, and doing SFX makeup. Fun Fact: She is related to Canadian singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette!
Lindsey has a shy orange kitty named Panini Leakes, and still has her childhood dog, a sweet old Shih Tzu named Neko.
Drew grew up in Griffin, GA and currently attends Kennesaw State University. Although only recently making the switch, he always had plans to get into the animal care field. He is very good at reaching stuff in high places.
Drew enjoys spending time with his dog and following any and all of Atlanta’s extremely successful sports teams.
A native of Oxford, Alabama, Kayla has a love for critters on both the large and microscopic scale. She graduated from Auburn University in December 2016 with a B.s. in Microbiology with a minor in Animal Sciences. While completing her undergraduate studies, she worked as an assistant in the diagnostic Serology-Virology lab at Auburn’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She plans to continue on to veterinary school and hopes to pursue a career in immunotherapy and diagnostics.
In her downtime, Kayla enjoys exploring Atlanta, reading, cooking, and trying to keep up with her dog, Petey.
Briana was born and raised in Florida. She graduated from the University of North Florida with a bachelor’s in Communication with a focus in public relations and a minor in photography. It was at her senior internship with the Jacksonville Humane Society when she decided she wanted to be a part of animal welfare while utilizing her degree. Briana also loves to go out and explore North Georgia and photograph the amazing landscapes the state of Georgia has to offer.
Briana loves to practice her photography skills on her white, Mini Schnauzer, Skippy. Fun fact: Skippy is in a Miranda Lambert music video.
Laura joined Peachtree Hills Animal Hospital in 2018, shortly after moving from Philadelphia with her husband. Her long-held love of critters and experience volunteering with an animal shelter’s medical unit prompted her to switch career fields, from marketing to veterinary medicine. She enjoys running, hiking and reading in her spare time.
Smitten with her sweet temperament and animated ears, Laura adopted Simone, a pit bull mix, a few months after moving to the Atlanta area. A serial snuggler, Simone loves peanut butter, carrots and, most of all, her rubber tug-of-war toy.
Mike “Handyman” Jones
Mike Jones has called Atlanta home for over 40 years. He and his wife live in the Buckhead area where they raised their children – one of whom is named Duffy. Now that Mike has retired from the insurance industry, you might find him around the PHAH office, not only fixing the small stuff to keep the premises in tip-top shape, but also busting his buttons over being able to help his son in a very small way.
When Mike is off duty, you will find him walking all over Buckhead accompanied by his Golden Retriever rescue, Barney.
