Laurie Smith is a registered veterinary technician who joined the staff at Peachtree Hills Animal Hospital because she is dedicated to bringing quality personalized health care to companion animals. She hails from York, Pennsylvania, but has lived in the south long enough to consider it home. Although her Bachelor’s degree is in the field of foreign language, Laurie was compelled to pursue a career in veterinary technology. She attended Gwinnett Technical Institute to earn certification and passed the licensing examination. Now, after twelve years of employment in animal hospitals, Laurie is very glad that her path has ultimately led to Peachtree Hills Animal Hospital. When she is away from work, she spends her time hiking, biking, playing her flute and watching football with her husband, Todd.

Not born but raised in Atlanta, GA, Artesia has known her entire life that she would in some way be involved in veterinary medicine. For the last 10 years she has been proud to be one of the lucky few who can say that she absolutely loves her job. After a two year stint in property and casualty insurance sales, she decided that a desk job was not for her; that’s when she joined the team at Peachtree Hills Animal Hospital. In addition to pursuing her veterinary technician’s license, Artesia enjoys spending time with her beautiful, brilliant daughter Nia and giving the patients at Peachtree Hills her full dedication.

J.R. Mounts is originally from Southern California and moved to Georgia in 1994 with his wife. When asked if he has children he replies “Yes, 5 cats and 1 dog”. His greatest passions are his wife, songwriting, superheroes and monsters. A songwriter at heart, J.R. has performed with many unsuccessful local rock bands since he was a child and has written for equally unsuccessful musical theater. He co-wrote a musical version of “The Scarlet Letter” that, in 2001, had a quaint, successful run in New York. With a variety of job experience, he most enjoys being “the dude at the front desk” here at Peachtree Hills, being as helpful as possible and conversing with the clients. He feels the doctors and staff here are truly exceptional and offer the best of the best. Most of all, after a good day’s work J.R. enjoys coming home to spend time with his wonderful wife.
Jessica is one of the newest additions to our team hear at Peachtree Hills Animal Hospital. She knew she wanted to work with animals the day she diagnosed her aunt’s dog with cataracts when she was only eight years old. Immediately after graduating high school she started working in the animal field and has loved it ever since. Starting as a doggie day care supervisor, receptionist and veterinary technician she has gained a tremendous amount of experience which she shares with us today. She currently lives in Marietta, GA with her husband Mizar and their two dogs “Dakota” their German Shepherd, and “Kane” the Doberman Pinscher.

She also recently completed a bachelor's degree in accounting at Georgia State, and hopes to someday put it to use in the veterinary field. Michelle was born in upstate New York and moved to the Atlanta area at the age of 14. Since then, she has lived all over metro Atlanta; currently residing in the Vinings area, but is hoping to move back into the city soon! She is still working on re-developing hobbies after finishing school, but is in the process of buying a house that will bring many projects, and also enjoys exploring the city and talking politics. Her only pet is a 10 year old German shepherd named Kaija, but she enjoys being an only child.

After finishing her Master’s in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy at Mississippi College, Susanna moved to Georgia, married her best friend, and got a great job working at Peachtree Hills Animal Hospital. She currently lives in Midtown with her husband Nick, their mutt Alice, and their orange cat Jack Bauer.
